Job Summary

Gulliver Preparatory School’s Aquatics Department is currently seeking a Swim School Director to join our team of professionals.  The qualified applicant should be dynamic, reliable and trustworthy with excellent communication and organizational skills.  This position will oversee the critical water safety, learn-to-swim and pre-team programs at Gulliver Prep, helping children foster the love for water and swimming. This role is also responsible for assisting the Director of Aquatics in leading an enthusiastic aquatics staff in the daily operations, management and development of a world-class water and safety and learn-to-swim program.  

Responsibilities include but are not limited to: 

  • Collaborate with the Aquatics Director to develop and implement the Swim School’s water safety and learn-to-swim model and curriculum.
  • Plan, oversee and conduct 2-4 hours per day of on-deck coaching.
  • Work with the Swim Club coaching staff to ensure appropriate progression and timing of swimmers from Swim School to Swim Club.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with young swimmers, parents, school staff, coaches and community stakeholders
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Aquatics Director.
  • Work daily to promote the Gulliver Aquatics program and enhance its visibility on the Academy campus and within the broader community.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree required. 
  • Minimum three (3) years successful experience in teaching water safety and/or teaching learn-to-swim. 
  • CPR/AED Certification, First Aid Certification, Coaches Safety and Safe Sport Certifications. 
  • Water Safety Instructor Certification. 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Excellent communication, leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate young children and colleagues.
  • Previous water safety and learn-to-swim experience, with a proven track record of success in creating a safe, nurturing environment for young children to learn and thrive in.
  • Dedication to individual development and a commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive team culture amongst Aquatics staff and colleagues.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, parents and stakeholders to achieve program goals and vision.

Desired Qualifications

  • Aquatics Facility Operation Certification is a plus! 

Pre-Employment Requirements

Criminal Background Check, Level II Fingerprint Screening(s), and Drug screen.
