Job Summary

Gulliver Preparatory School is seeking an experienced Human Resources Generalist with high level accountability to join our team! This position will play a key role in completing a variety of tasks to support the daily operations of the Human Resources department. The incumbent will be responsible and oversee the functions relating to FMLA, workers compensation and our robust employee wellness program. Additionally, this position will support the Human Resources Manager with the benefits administration process. 

Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Oversees and implements the leave of absence process including but not limited to; maintenance of the LOA database, internal documents, payroll actions, employee leave files and correspondence to employees.

  • Supports annual open enrollment process, including employee communications, benefit system updates and reporting. Also coordinates the 401(k)-plan administration including enrollment and contribution changes.

  • Organizes and manages the coordination of all wellness events throughout the school year including but not limited to; annual 5K run/walk, flu shot clinics, on-site wellness classes and wellness events on professional development days. Creates and distributes a monthly wellness blog as part of our HR Newsletter.

  • Develop an engaging internship program. Lead the process by working with Chief People Officer and Human Resources Manager to determine needs and placement with a focus on building strong internal and external partnerships with higher education organizations that provide teacher interns.

  • Coordinates the pre-employment screening process and appointments for full-time and part-time administrative, faculty and staff employees. Screening includes; ADP background check, on-site fingerprinting, initiating drug-screen, and enrollment into school training platforms. Follow-up on all items to confirm clearance for hire.

  • Ensures HR data is up-to-date and accurate in HRIS systems in addition to data entry to Gulliver specific platforms including Veracross and external benefit vendor sites.

  • Maintains exit interview database and is responsible to identify trends and provides input for improvement and/or changes if necessary to policies and procedures. Ensures termination status across all databases including benefit vendors is updated accordingly.

  • Owns the Annual Service Awards Process (Years of Service and Retirees). Analyzes the years of service report to ensure employees receive the proper pin year and bonus amount. Submits requests for payment of bonus for June paycheck and follows through for accuracy and approval.

  • Responsible for all Verification of Employment Requests from outside vendors.

  • Offers HR support to employees and managers, providing policy guidance and serving as a contact for HR related questions and issues.

  • In collaboration with the HR Team, organize employee events such as; Faculty & Staff Appreciation Day, Family Fun Day, Admin/Staff Professional Day, Admin, Faculty and Staff Appreciation Week etc...

  • In collaboration with the HR Team, participates in the New Hire Onboarding Orientation annually.

  • Serves as the primary contact for work-site injuries and/or accidents.

  • Maintains log and is responsible for flower orders for employees and/or family members (births, deaths, get well etc...).

  • Process name and address changes throughout all platforms, including external benefit vendors.

  • Supports HR project initiatives as assigned by the Chief People Officer or Human Resources Manager.

 Qualifications & Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business or related field; Master’s preferred.

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in the human resource field; Educational setting is a plus!

  • Bilingual in English/Spanish is highly preferred.

  • Experience with ADP HRIS system is a plus.

  • Independent and self-starter, while also being able to adapt in a fast-paced environment.

  • Maintain confidentiality in handling sensitive and personal information.

Pre-Employment Requirements

Criminal Background Check, Level II Fingerprint Screening and Drug Screen.
