Job Summary

Gulliver Preparatory School is seeking to hire a Public Safety Coordinator to join our team or professionals. This position will be responsible to manage and oversee various aspects of public safety at Gulliver Prep.  The coordinator will be responsible for ensuring a safe and secure environment for all students, faculty, staff, and visitors across all campuses at Gulliver Prep in conjunction with the Safety and Security Supervisor.  The coordinator plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety and security of the Gulliver community.  The coordinator works in conjunction with the Safety and Security Supervisor to prevent incidents, respond effectively to emergencies, and promote a culture of safety and preparedness.  

Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to: 

Campus Safety & Security Management

  • Conduct regular risk assessments and implement measures to address vulnerabilities across all campuses.
  • Oversee the deployment and maintenance of security systems, including surveillance cameras, access control systems, and emergency communication systems.
  • Monitor daily operations to ensure a secure environment, including traffic management, visitor protocols, and student transportation safety.

 

Emergency Preparedness & Response

  • Develop, implement, and regularly review emergency response plans for scenarios such as severe weather, fire, medical emergencies, active threats, and other crises.
  • Organize and lead safety drills in compliance with local and state regulations.
  • Maintain strong partnerships with local law enforcement, fire departments, and other emergency response agencies.

 

Training, Compliance & Reporting

  • Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations related to school safety and security.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate records, including incident reports, safety audits, and compliance documentation.
  • Regularly report on safety initiatives, incident trends, and improvement recommendations to the Director of Operations and Risk Management.

 

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field. 
  • A minimum of five (5) years’ experience in public safety, law enforcement, or a related field, preferably in a school or campus setting.
  • Proven expertise in emergency management, risk assessment, and crisis response.
  • Strong knowledge of security systems, protocols, and best practices.  
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Experience in a school setting preferred.

Working Conditions

  • Must be available for on-call emergencies during non-standard hours.
  • Requires travel between campuses and occasional evening or weekend responsibilities.

 

Pre-Employment Requirements

Criminal Background Check, Level II Fingerprint Screening and Drug Screen.
