Position Overview
Gulliver Prep is seeking a dynamic and experienced individual to serve as the Girls’ Varsity Basketball Coach (seasonal coach role). This multifaceted role involves coaching the Upper School varsity team, overseeing and aligning the basketball program at younger levels, and fostering a culture of growth and excellence within the girls’ basketball program.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Coach the varsity girls’ basketball team, providing instruction, guidance, and mentorship to student-athletes.
- Plan and conduct effective practice sessions that promote skill development, teamwork, and competitive readiness.
- Identify and develop talent within the Gulliver school community.
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with student-athletes, parents, school staff, and community stakeholders.
- Collaborate with our youth sports and middle school coaches to align coaching philosophies, skill progressions, and concepts across all levels.
- Oversee girls’ basketball clinics and camps.
- Attract, mentor, and evaluate coaching staff.
- Assist with game scheduling, equipment management, and team travel.
- Maintain compliance with FHSAA and school policies.
Minimum Qualifications
- Previous coaching experience at the high school or collegiate level, with a proven track record of success in developing student-athletes.
- Strong background in teaching basketball fundamentals, practice and game planning, and overall team management.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills, with a track record of motivating student-athletes.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Pre-Employment Requirements
Criminal Background Check, Level II Fingerprint Screening(s), and Drug screen.
