About Gulliver Preparatory School

Established in 1926 by Arthur Gulliver in Coconut Grove, Gulliver was likened to the prestigious academies of the northeast and initially attracted families who wintered in Florida. In late 1953, Marian Krutulis purchased the school. A pioneer in education, Mrs. Krutulis envisioned Gulliver as grand home where both students and teachers would feel part of a caring, inspiring family of learners. Over the course of 25 years, she relocated the school to Coral Gables, built an upper school for high school students in Pinecrest and achieved ‘Blue Ribbon School of Excellence’ designation by the US Department of Education. In 2000 Gulliver became a non-profit. Today, Gulliver Preparatory School serves approximately 2,200 students in Grades PK–12 on three campuses. Despite its significant growth over the last 60 years, Gulliver still upholds Marian Krutulis’ vision to maintain the physical and social-emotional health of its students and trains them to become people of integrity in everything they say and do. 


Job Summary

Gulliver Preparatory School’s Athletic Department is currently seeking to hire an Assistant Director of Sports Information & College Athletic Recruiting to join its team of professionals. The Director of Sports Information & College Athletic Recruiting is responsible for assisting the Gulliver Prep Athletic Department as well as the Communications Department with concentration in the following areas: 

  1. Athletic communications including but not limited to social media, website updates, calendar management for practice/games, branding and marketing, and press releases,
  2. Provide high school student-athletes, families, and coaches with expert insight and guidance about the college athletic recruiting process.

Other areas of responsibilities include but are not limited to: 

Sports Information Coordination/Operations

  • Athletics Calendar management for department on Google, Veracross, and other platforms.
  • Coordinates events for the athletics throughout the school year for different programs (Sports Fair, select team kickoffs, Football season kickoff, Raider Madness, Baseball/Softball and more).
  • Work with Athletics department to manage website, game schedules, and early dismissals for athletic teams on Veracross.
  • Serve as an Athletics representative and supervise home events.
  • Utilize strategic communications and social media to provide relevant updates about the Athletic Department, student-athletes, and teams to target audiences.
  • Collaborate with the Athletic Department and Communications staff to stay consistent with branding, voice, and scheduling of communications.
  • Train coaches on brand standards and monitor content to ensure consistent applications of brand standards and messaging.
  • Be the point-of-contact and represent the athletic department for external athletic media, as requested. 
  • Attend athletic events/competitions as scheduled.
  • Work with Communications to develop and implement the marketing plan for athletics including the execution of ongoing strategic communications with Gulliver Prep student-athletes, families and constituents.
  • Work with Communications to create a social media plan for Gulliver athletics.  Serve as the primary content creator for Gulliver Athletics social media channels.   


College Athletic Recruiting Coordination

  • Responsible for communicating with college coaches or personnel regarding prospects while abiding by collegiate and high school recruiting rules. Will serve as a liaison between the school and college coaches, especially during coaches’ visits to the school. 
  • Meet with student-athletes, coaches, and families to discuss college athletic goals and offer insight and guidance in the recruitment process.
  • Communicate with Gulliver Prep coaches and college coaches about potential prospects in-person, via phone, via email, and/or via social media.
  • Manage ongoing strategic communications with Gulliver Prep student-athletes, families and college coaches.
  • Works with College Guidance Office to facilitate NCAA and NAIA eligibility for student-athletes and education-based events for the community.
  • Assists in coordinating Signing Day (4-5 times a school year, College informational sessions for families – “How to Finance College for Student Athletes”, Career in Sports Night, and The College Recruiting Process. 


Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Extensive understanding of professional communication, social media and branding techniques. 


Desired Qualifications

  • Athletic branding and marketing experience.
  • Strong communication skills both verbally and written.
  • Significant knowledge about athletic recruiting including academic standards, financial aid awards, recruiting rules, eligibility, and athletic fit.
  • Knowledge of current NCAA, NJCAA, NAIA, and FHSAA rules regarding athletic recruiting and eligibility.

Pre-Employment Requirements

Criminal Background Check, Level II Fingerprint Screening(s), and Drug screen.
