Job Summary
The Upper School at Gulliver Prep is seeking passionate and dedicated educators for a variety of positions within the Physical Education department to join our growing team. The qualified candidate must be able to develop and execute effective lesson plans that cover the curriculum and engage students’ interests related to promoting wellness and mindfulness, with the ability to teach sports, weight training and yoga. The qualified candidate will be knowledgeable of health and wellness principles along with injury practices. This position will plan practice opportunities that are structured for maximum participation (e.g., individual, partner, and small-group activities; non elimination activities; activities that require no wait time).
Additionally, this position requires faculty to coach one sport during the school year (assistant or head coach) but are encouraged to coach multiple sports throughout the school year. Applicants should be enthusiastic, patient, empathetic and able to motivate students of all abilities. Have a strong collaborative mindset and interpersonal skills, while communicating effectively with students, parents, colleagues and administrators. Work cooperatively with other physical education faculty in planning and implementing a balance program all while having a passion for teaching and inspiring students to embrace physical activity and wellness.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in education or related field. Master’s degree preferred
At least two years of teaching experience; at the upper school level is preferred.
Desired Qualifications
Effective classroom management skills.
Experience employing a range of pedagogical approaches (e.g., direct instruction, project-based learning, cooperative group work).
Strong presentation abilities and effective written communication.
Proficient with technology, including Google, NearPod, Canva, and interactive whiteboards.
Ability to adapt teaching methods to meet the diverse needs of students.
