Job Summary
The Upper School at Gulliver Prep is seeking passionate and dedicated educators for a variety of positions, including an International Baccalaureate Programme Coordinator (IB Coordinator) to join our growing team. The IB Coordinator is a key leadership position in the Upper School and is responsible for the coordination and development of the IB Diploma Programme (IBDP) in Grades 11 & 12. The IB Coordinator also works collaboratively with the Middle Years Programme (MYP), Gulliver’s IB program for 7th and 8th grade students. The Coordinator is the direct point of contact with the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO) in matters pertaining to the IBDP.
Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Assist the Principal of the Upper School in the leadership and management of the division, with a specific focus on IB students in grades 11-12.
Assist the Principal of the Upper School in ensuring that the IBDP is implemented and developed in-line with the requirements of the IB Standards & Practices, the General Regulations for the Diploma Programme, and other IB-mandated guiding documentation.
Lead the admission process for students entering the IBDP.
Ensure that student records are accurately maintained through ManageBac.
Ensure that teachers are kept up to date with the latest news, curriculum guides and other guiding documentation from the IB.
Responsible to organize the final examinations and the orals, taking overall responsibility for the running of the examinations, the safekeeping of examination materials and the dispatch of all papers and examination documents to the IBO through the required channels.
Focus on student learning and best practice in teaching and on achieving the aims as outlined in Gulliver Preparatory’s Mission.
Develop the annual IB Diploma budget in partnership with the Upper School Principal.
Develop and regularly update the strategic plan for the IBDP, which will ensure it remains relevant while always looking ahead.
Delivering and helping develop IB information workshops for faculty and staff who are not involved with IB.
The IB Coordinator is the pedagogical leader of the Upper School’s IBDP, responsible for ensuring that teaching and learning are in line with IB expectations, internationally recognized standards, and research-based best practice.
The IB Coordinator acts as spokesperson for the Upper School’s IBDP, ensuring that it has a clear voice and presence within the community at large.
Overseeing the application process for both current Gulliver students as well as students applying to the school for the first time. This includes, but is not limited to, setting targets for enrollment; assembling an admissions committee; coordinating with the Director of Enrollment Management, and handling appeals.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in education or related field. Master’s degree preferred.
Desired Qualifications
Wide and deep knowledge of the IB Programme as an instructor and, preferably, an administrator.
Experience in the admissions process.
Experience working with faculty from across all disciplines.
Evidence of effective written and verbal communication.
The ability to work with both middle school and college-level students, instructors, and administrators.
Effective communication with families.
