Job Summary

Gulliver Preparatory School is seeking to hire a Middle School Social Studies Faculty to start immediately to finish out the 2024-25 school year. We are excited to hire an experienced teacher with a passion for bringing history alive for our students while teaching them important social studies skills. This position will be responsible to teach an 8th grade social studies course “Civics and the Global Citizen” as well as a Model United Nations elective class. One of the 8th grade social studies courses follows the requirements of the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme. The department also offers courses in fifth grade Early American History, sixth grade United States History, seventh grade Early Civilizations, eighth grade Civics and the Global Citizen, and an elective course in Model UN.

The social studies department teaches informational writing through the writer’s workshop method, document-based questions, and the Guided Inquiry Design method of research.  Candidates should be excited to work with a small group of students as an advisor delivering lessons in social-emotional learning and serve as a club sponsor. Candidates should also be adept at incorporating technology in the classroom and embrace 21st century teaching methods. 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in History, Education or related field. Master’s Degree preferred. 
  • A minimum of three (3) years teaching experience, preferably with middle school students.
