Job Summary
Gulliver Preparatory School is seeking to hire a dedicated and qualified Middle School Faculty to finish out the 2024-25 school year, covering for a leave. This position will involve teaching 6th grade literature and reading, as well as a 7th grade study skills class. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with middle school students, a strong background in education, and the ability to foster a supportive and engaging learning environment.
Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Plan and deliver engaging lessons for 6th-grade literature and reading, aligned with the school’s curriculum and standards.
- Teach a 7th-grade study skills class, focusing on executive functioning, time management, and organizational strategies, while encouraging independent homework completion and providing support as needed.
- Assess and monitor student progress, providing timely and constructive feedback.
- Maintain accurate records of student performance and communicate effectively with parents and guardians as needed.
- Collaborate with colleagues and participate in team meetings to ensure a cohesive educational experience.
- Create a positive, inclusive, and respectful classroom environment that supports student growth.
- Other responsibilities include leading an Advisory group or club that meets once a week for connecting activities and social-emotional learning lessons.
- Candidates must also be adept at incorporating technology in the classroom and they must embrace 21st century teaching methods.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in English, Education or related field. Master’s Degree preferred.
- A minimum of three (3) years teaching experience, preferably with middle school students, preferred.
Pre-Employment Requirements
Criminal Background Check, Level II Fingerprint Screening and Drug Screen.
